Europe 2012

From the hundreds of photos I took while spending 20 days in Europe, these are a few I managed to work with this week. They are at least 1:20 meters in either height or width and can be printed in  Photo Paper or Canvas. I will be posting more photos as soon as they are ready. Hope you enjoy!

"The last descendants of a Princely House"

With a documented history of more than 500 years the Princely House of Lichnowsky, a family with roots in as many countries as Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and Germany is coming to and end. The last male inheritors of this name and titles attached to it live in Brazil and have something to say!
I have been working for my Europe Journey, which starts next week and I am posting today some of the photos I have in my family archives. I also used a series of photos I did in the early 90,s with my brothers Robert and Michel. These works are part of my Portofolio which is titled : Passions and Prints...

Rasa Nights, Buzios, Brazil.

Digital photography still is very much criticized by professional photographers, specially the ones still using analog equipment. I have a lot of simpathy for them, I still have my grand father,s Rolley Flex and dream of being able to use it some day.
In a time when photos taken on cell phones are being used to make art and a famous british painter is using his Ipad do produce his works, Digital Art should not be seen as, or compared to Photography. The works below I consider as Paintings, the only diference is that I used my computer and a digital camera to obtain the results I wanted. Even though I mostly used mechanical instruments to obtain determined exposures and lens distortions, I don’t mind using a digital effect to make an image.
They can be printed in Canvases up to 60 x 40 cm and the photos below are low resolution, the actual works will have a high resolution of 300 dpi.
Rasa is the name of the neighborhood I live in the village of Buzios. Its not a place where tourists or the bourgeoisie goes, which gives me a clean image and I can work more freely. The people who live here are decendents from slaves and they are very beautiful, I am preparing a work with them that will soon be posted here...

Mechtilde Lichnowsky

This is the work I am working on currently. Those photos are about 80 years old or more. They have been restored and I have added some digital effects to enhance them as well. This is the work I am working for a series of expositions that are being scheduled for May 2012 in Europe. Mechtilde was a writer, composer, painter, poet but most of all, or simply a Modern Woman. Modern not in the sense of what people beleive to be modern, but someone who today, more than 50 years after her death would be far away from our time...
As what is expected from an artist, what she showed us is "a way of living" . Those are a few of the more than 40 photos I still have of my great grand mother.

Polonia e Republica Tcheca.
